Don Eischen was born in Fresno, where he was formally educated in the public schools and at California State University, Fresno, CA; Columbia University, New York, New York; and Stanford University, Stanford, California. Don taught at California State University, Fresno, Fresno City College, and Supervised student teachers from the university for Fresno Unified Schools until his retirement. He has received many awards for his poetry and most recently was invited to read at the Inauguration of President Clinton in 1997. In 1994 Don read his poetry at the White House along with other poets to promote "Peace Through Poetry."

Don is a member of the National Writer's union and Local Union #7 in Santa Cruz, California. Don received the prestigious award in 1988 for Outstanding educator in Fresno. Don's wife Jennie Capriola passed on August 13, 1999.

Dr. Don's book, Mirror Up to Nature was published in 2002 and features Poetry based on psychological phases of life. A Psychologist, Dr. Don practiced in Fresno, McLane High School, for 15 years and 10 years in Santa Cruz, CA. Currently, he continues his part time practice as a Doctor of Psychology. He holds a Ph. D. in Psychology and a Ph. D. in English Literature.
